First of all, who knew that Coca-Cola had so many beverage labels? I didn’t. When I am grocery shopping, I don’t just check food labels, I check beverage labels too. With so many falling under the Coca-Cola Company’s umbrella, I thought it best to send a general inquiry about all of their beverages. I have to say, they certainly did their homework. The list of beverages they have deemed as gluten free is extensive, but what about the products not mentioned on this list? For example, I know that Fruitopia is part of this company, but it is not on the list. Does that mean it contains gluten? The correspondence I received from them, explains both. If you do not see the beverage you are looking for on the list then this statement applies to that beverage and any other missing from the list. At the end of this statement is a list of all of their gluten free products.

“We can tell you that all of our other products meet Codex’s definition of gluten free which means the level does not exceed 20 mg/kg in total.  Codex is in the process of reviewing this standard and we are monitoring the progress closely.  

We can assure you that the exact amount of gluten in all these other products is very low – perhaps even zero.  Some minor ingredients in these products are manufactured from plants that gluten-sensitive people could react to, so we are unable to state categorically that they are totally gluten-free even though they may have undetectable levels of gluten in them.  The Codex guideline provides a very low threshold for gluten content.  However, extremely gluten-sensitive individuals should discuss consumption of these products with their health care provider”.​
