My all-time favourite tortilla chips are the round yellow corn Old El Paso tortilla chips. I have not seen them in grocery stores for years, so I am always searching and hoping for an adequate replacement.
What I like about these tortillas: The flavour of the yellow corn is excellent and they have just the right amount of salt.
What I don’t like about them: They are too thin. By themself, I like the thin crispy texture but they do not hold up well with dip, and forget about using them in nachos (they instantly go soggy).
So if you just want them as a nice light snack, go for it, but if you want to load them up with chili, salsa, cheese, and sour cream… go for a thicker tortilla chip.
These chips are non GMO, organic, and have no artificial flavours or colours. They are high in calories, 260 for 10 large chips.
They come in Blue Corn as well as Simply Organic Doritos White Cheddar. I have not tried either of these varieties. Stay tuned because as soon as I see the White Cheddar Doritos in my grocery store, I will be all over them.
