Home Made Gluten Free Skor Bars
The recipe for skor bars has been circulating for years. Given that sometimes gluten free products don’t react well with moisture, I have been hesitant to try it with gluten free crackers. Today I decided to be brave and thanks to Schär gluten free crackers, they turned out amazing. I cannot tell they are gluten free. Give this recipe a try!
Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
Schär gluten free table crackers (enough to line your baking sheet)
1 1/4 cups Hershey’s gluten free Chipets
(you can use milk or semi-sweet chocolate Chipets) I use semi-sweet
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Line a baking sheet with tinfoil (shiny side down). Lay down crackers (flat) to fill the sheet. (salted side up)
In a saucepan slowly melt butter and brown sugar together. Once the mixture is fully melted and well combined, pour the mixture evenly over crackers. Make sure that each cracker is fully covered. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 13 to 14 minutes.
While bars are baking place chocolate chips in a heat-resistant mixing bowl and place in a water bath, slowly melting the chocolate until it is smooth. When your timer goes off, remove the tray from the oven.
While still hot, spread melted chocolate evenly over each bar.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or until set.
